PRESIDENT’S COMMENTS:
Missouri Limousin Breeders and family,
As the dog days of summer come to an end, and the summer fairs have come and gone, cattlemen across the country are busy with fall work. From weaning the spring born calves, cutting hay, fall born calves being born, planning for and attending sales and preparing for winter that is around the corner; the work never ends. As I hear often, the work goes on and on and on.
I am often asked by friends who are not involved in agriculture why I mess with the cows. There are many reasons that come to mind for me very easily; passion, dedication, sense of accomplishment, love of the outdoors. But my biggest why of all? My love of the breed and my Limousin Family.
My family and I have been fortunate enough to grow up as part of the Limousin family. I see the passion and dedication of Limousin breeders across the country. In true family fashion, we may not all agree or we may have different ideas but, in the end, we all share a love for a breed of cattle that offers so much to the cattle industry.
I would like to challenge my Limousin family to three things,
- Share your passion; Tell your neighbor, friends, the coffee shop or whoever will listen why you use Limousin.
- Attend a Limousin event; Whether it be a sale, show or farm visit get out and see your family with the same passion.
- Bring a friend; Show others how great the cattle and people of the breed are.

MLBA FIELD DAY.
The MLBA 2018 Field Day will be held the weekend of June 8,9, and10. The shows will be held in conjunction with the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association All Breeds Junior Show at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia.

A big thank you goes out to TJ and Kari, Greg and Pam, and the entire Callahan family for donating the Limousin beef and grilling burgers, and sides for a very successful State Fair Social in the barn August 19. A great time was had by all.

For those of you who use Facebook, you can connect to the MLBA Facebook as well to keep abreast of happenings within our Limousin family. Mary Quigley developed and is keeping this website current.

Be sure to visit our MLBA breeders at the Fall Farm Fest at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds, Springfield, MO, October 6, 7 and 8.
The American Royal Open and Junior shows will be held on October 26.

MLBA BULL TEST .
While we had commitments of 26 bulls from 10 MLBA breeders, it wasn’t quite enough to have our own bull test pen at the Green Spring Bull Test this winter. Realistically we will need 13-14 breeders to achieve our goal. We plan to attempt this again next year.
